Job Description

 

Job Description Summary:

- The Network/Telecom Architect will be responsible for providing expert level design and architectural solutions with appropriate redundancy, availability, scalability, security, manageability and business requirements needed for developing complex service provider solutions.

 

- The Network/Telecom Architect will provide technical leadership on implementation of telecom projects and ensure that it meets existing and future MAXIMUS Solution requirements. One of the main projects the Telecom Architect will be responsible for is managing the customer migrations to our cloud-based solution.

 

- Candidates should have strong knowledge and experience in VOIP based technologies, Internet Dedicated Access(IDA), Load Balancer, Session Boarder Controllers, Carrier Integrations, and various VoIP enabled technologies (i.e. call/screen recording, advanced speech and text to speech)

 

- The Network/Telecom Architect will participate in the product development lifecycle to include ideation, detailed requirements analysis, design recommendations, validation, and oversite to Engineering and Operational teams for low level engineering, deployment and support.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work with product managers, network engineering, and operations to take products from ideation to implementation and then ongoing lifecycle improvements of that product.

- Well-developed knowledge and experience understanding industry best practices on telecommunications and network architecture and engineering.

- Working Knowledge and experience SIP stack integration, VoIP and Streaming Technologies: SIP, RTSP, RTMP, SIP-to-PSTN gateways, SIP Trunk, WebRTC, etc.

- VoIP servers, SIP, network regions, trunk group configuration, signaling protocols, ability to implement and troubleshoot dial plans, ARS and AAR plans

- Computer security as it relates to defense of VoIP networks

- Represent the department; build a feedback loop between various cross-functional teams within Network and telecommunications Engineering to identify, quantify, and address network risks.

- Expert-level knowledge of routing, including but not limited to: M/BGP, MPLS (traffic engineering, L2/L3 VPN), ISIS, OSPF/OSPFv3, RSVP, LDP, EIGRP, IGRP, RIP-1/2, MSDP, PIM-DM/SM, in routing and WCCP.

- Demonstrated ability to serve as a central networking professional responsible for design and planning of next generation IP network.

- Wide expertise in ancillary technologies used to support network/telecom backbones such as management and metric gathering tools (SNMP, Netflow), packet capturing tools, and automation tools.

- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of network infrastructure required for new projects.

- Responsible for designing, building, monitoring, and configurating a secure enterprise network systems. Specifically relating to network segmentation to the appropriate trust domains (i.e. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), mandatory Access Control (MAC), and Discretionary Access Control (DAC).

- Telecom Carrier management knowledge such as Trunk management, telecom routing, Resporgs, portability, LCR

- Familiar with Network and Telecom technologies (IE: Cisco, Oracle SBC, Ribbon, Juniper, Palo Alto)

Education and Experience Required:

- At least 12 years of relevant experience in both telecommunication and network architecture and design.

- Demonstrated ability to utilize and enhance existing monitoring infrastructure to address current/emerging growth and redundancy needs.

- Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring and guidance to less senior network engineers to raise functional technical in-house expertise.

- Demonstrated ability to provide oral and written status reports, SOW's, RFP's, design and planning documents, etc.

Additional Skills:

- Provides consultative support for product management and sales teams for highly complex customer requirements and product initiatives.

- Provides extensive knowledge and experience understanding industry best practices on network architecture and engineering and experience in robust network, product/service and system design and implementation strategies.

- Collaborates with other departments relating to design analysis, planning, and coordination.
